Externship Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a dedication to exceptional service for animals and the people who love them.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories
• Perform physical examinations
• Create treatment plans and conduct diagnostics
• Provide dentistry services
• Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures
• Manage patients medically
• Practice effective communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Duration
