Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Services, provides assessment and treatment services for cancer patients. Liaises with home health units, community agencies, and caregiver support groups. Participates in educational inservices, planning, program development, and policy recommendations. Provides consultation support and the social work perspective to the interdisciplinary team in the development of services within the assigned area of responsibility. Responsibilities Conducts social and psychosocial assessments of clients and families and interprets the information using a variety of modalities in accordance with professional standards and clinical practice. Provides counselling to cancer patients and their families during the initial crisis of diagnosis, recurrent treatment, and remission. Liaises with the Palliative Care Team as needed.
