Day Surgery & Post Anesthetic Care Unit Department: PACU nursing staff, anaesthetists and surgeons work collaboratively to help patients recover from the anesthesia given during surgery. Patients are monitored closely by highly skilled nurses to ensure a successful and faster recovery during the immediate time after surgery. Recognizing the unique needs of pediatric patients, the North Bay Regional Health Centre provides a separate PACU area for children to wait for and recover from surgery. PACU nursing staff are trained to provide services in both the PACU and the Day Surgery Recovery areas, thereby providing seamless quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration - College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate is a condition of employment
• Minimum (2-3 years) related surgical experience in an active care setting (within the last 2-3 years) required
