Market Analyst Forecasting Specialist

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results‑driven professional to join our team in this role. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Day Ahead Operations, the position is responsible for preparing load and weather forecasts, analyzing related data and providing written and verbal commentaries.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare daily forecasts of short‑term electricity demand in the electricity markets/control areas/zones in which OPG does business. Regularly brief OPG staff on forecasts.
• Assist in maintaining and adapting proprietary short‑term demand forecasting applications.
• Evaluate short‑term electricity demand forecasts prepared by Independent System Operators (ISOs) and identify potential discrepancies relative to proprietary forecasts.
