Overview

The West Coast General Hospital (WCGH) is seeking physicians to join our ‘Community Hospital Inpatient Physician’ (CHIP) team. Full‑time or part‑time positions are available. The CHIP team members will act as MRP care for unattached and unassigned inpatients to the Family Practice service at WCGH. This includes rounding on inpatients, arranging service transfers and inter‑facility repatriations, discharge planning, and responding to urgent calls for admitted patients under this service.

Physicians in this role also provide consult services to on‑site ambulatory clinics, including Medical Day care, and provide virtual outreach consult service to rural health sites and rural and remote Indigenous communities. They participate in daily structured team reports and support allied teams in hospital and community. Participation in in‑person, virtual, or telephone patient handovers at discharge to the patient’s primary community practitioners is required.
