FUNCTION & DUTIES: Under the Assistant Director of Complementary Services, the Consultant will work in close collaboration with the other special education consultants in all areas of special education to provide services to special needs students in Inuktitut and to contribute to the in‑service training and course sessions of Inuit teachers.

Assessment and diagnosis of students with suspected learning problems in the schools

Identification of students with emotional and/or behavioural problems

Training and support for the special education teachers and counsellors within the Board

On‑going development of culturally appropriate diagnostic tools and remedial material

In‑service and teacher training in the areas of education

Involvement in on‑going research concerning language of instruction.
