Under the general direction of the Manager, Health Services - Diabetes Education Centre, the incumbent is responsible for
Teaching all aspects of diabetes self management to inpatients, outpatients and their families.
Providing in-service education to staff and students.
Developing, assessing and revising educational materials.
Experience
Minimum three (3) years recent experience in Diabetes Education is required.
Previous experience in adult teaching preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing, required.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, preferred.
Certified Diabetes Educator required (candidates eligible and willing to write the exam at the next available opportunity will be considered). (Note: Continuing employment in the position is conditional upon passing the exam).
