MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi‑skilled activities to support a decentralized patient‑centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager.

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information into patients' medical record.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Maintains annual competencies.
• Performs therapeutic procedures and makes accurate physical observations of patients.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
