TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre, is seeking an entry‑level accelerator operator to join its diverse team in the control room.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor accelerator systems in a fast‑paced control‑room environment, safely, reliably, and timely delivering particle beams to experiments.
Respond to alarms from ancillary systems, including electro‑mechanical devices, cooling services, vacuum equipment, power supplies, and computer controls.
Identify and troubleshoot accelerator system faults.
Assist with emergency response activities and ensure site security protocols are maintained.
Mitigate radiation hazards using ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
Communicate effectively with researchers, engineers, and support staff to ensure smooth operations.
Document shift activities in logbooks and produce statistical records.
